The Artemide Melampo Tavolo was designed by Adrien Gardère. The French designer is known for his plain design language that is dominated by simplicity, clarity and usefulness. Accordingly, the Melampo Tavolo from the Italian high-class manufacturer Artemide at first sight seems to be a classically elegant table lamp that stands for a sophisticated sense of style with its shade made of silk satin. The unique feature of this table lamp is only revealed by a small handle which is further described in the next paragraph. The table lamp that received the Red Dot Award and the L'Observeur du Design is available as an aluminium grey and a bronze version.

Melampo Tavolo – zone lighting from three positions

The Artemide Melampo can be easily put into one of the three positions by means of the handle. In the basic position with the shade pointing downwards, this table lamps supplies zone lighting that effectively highlights the area below it. With the next "click" the shade is put in an inclined position and the Artemide Melampo Tavolo turns into a reading light. The shade of the Artemide Melampo Tavolo can also be aligned straight upwards. In this position the elegant light source becomes an uplighter that makes a contribution to ambient lighting. The special feature: by switching on the light, the aluminium-coloured satin shade changes its colour and shines in a pleasantly soft and gentle white.

The Melampo must be equipped with two lamps. light11 recommends equipping this light with halogen lamps which stand for an excellent colour rendering.

The Artemide Melampo can be used in many places. It is often placed on a sideboard or a commode where it effectively highlights the interior when it is in its basic position. In the inclined position, it is a popular solution next to a sofa or an armchair. Here, it makes sure that the newspaper, a book or a magazine are sufficiently illuminated. This means that a relaxing time while reading is guaranteed. In the bedroom, this table lamp also supplies reading light that is easy on the eyes when it is placed on a bedside table – its pleasant lighting promotes homeliness and well-being. When the shade is directed upwards it often serves to provide for discreet background lighting in the area of the TV. Here, it prevents that the screen is the only light source. The Artemide Melampo Tavolo thereby reduces the strain on the eyes so that you can enjoy a movie night at home.
