Design

Authorised re-editions of unforgotten classics belong to the core of the assortment that the German label ClassiCon presents. Among those dug up treasures is the Pailla, designed in 1927 by Eileen Gray, one of the most renowned designers of the 20th century. The ClassiCon Pailla is a ceiling/ wall light with an industrial style reduced to the essential: a cylinder consisting of two parts made of chromed steel with a screw thread. Since the Pailla comes without a reflector or diffuser, the illuminant is uncovered and thereby becomes a characterising means of design.

Pailla – harmonious ambient light

The ClassiCon Pailla’s luminaire body is equipped with an E27 socket compatible with a range of different lamps. The light of the illuminant of your choice can spread freely in all directions, as there is no reflector or diffuser. In this way, the wall light provides harmonious ambient lighting. For equipping the Pailla, light11 recommends using a halogen lamp or a retrofit/filament LED. The maximum power consumption should not exceed 75 watts. A tip for choosing an illuminant that suits your needs best: incandescent and halogen lamps are characterised by warm-white light with the best possible colour rendering of CRI=100. LEDs, on the other hand, stand out for their exemplary energy-efficiency, which is important if you lay emphasis on an eco-friendly operation.

Pailla wall lights for hallways as well as living rooms and bedrooms

The ClassiCon Pailla is often used for the general lighting of a hallway, for instance. There, it provides well-balanced lighting that guides residents and visitors through the entrance area. Also in the bedroom, e.g. as a ceiling light, the Pailla supplies harmonious base lighting. Installed in a group, it may also provide a living room with sufficient lighting. At the same time, the purist classic sets a statement in terms of discreet, restrained design in any room it is installed.
