DesignThe DCWéditions Lampe Gras No 317 successfully combines function and style. The table lamp, which dates back to 1921, is a real classic of light design and stands out for its extraordinary functionality and unique design. With the Lampe Gras No 317, the designer Bernard-Albin Gras created a table lamp made of cast iron, that was originally intended to be solely used as a desk lamp. As a result, the appearance is rather industrial and plain. Based on traditional desk lamps, the Lampe Gras No 317 is entirely made by hand. It has no screwed joints or soldering joints, however, that does not impede its functionality at all. This minimalist ingenuity even impressed the great Le Corbusier, who was one of the most prominent admirers of the Lampe Gras. In 2005, the design classic was honoured by an inclusion in the design collection exhibited at the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
