Design

The Flos Kelvin Edge is an update of the popular Kelvin LED by the Italian designer Antonio Citterio. It impresses by its filigree appearance and exemplary flexibility, which is achieved by the light-weight arms and joints made of aluminium. The main difference between the Kelvin Edge and its forerunner is its streamlined design. Especially the lamp head of the table lamp is slimmer and flatter thanks to the eponymous Edge-Lighting technology. Furthermore, the cable is hidden even better inside the frame of the table lamp, which is a key characteristic to those who appreciate the refined design of Flos Kelvin lights. The cable between the arm and head of the lamp has disappeared in this updated version. In this way, Antonio Citterio has brought the slender silhouette of his table lamp to an even higher level of perfection.

Kelvin Edge table lamps: customisable light temperature and high efficiency

The most outstanding characteristic of the Flos Kelvin Edge is its LED technology. It is not only highly efficient but also offers the opportunity to adjust the light temperature between 2,700 Kelvins and 3,200 Kelvins. Thereby, you may choose between pleasant warm-white light and neutral-white light depending on the situation. Especially during working hours, light with a higher proportion of blue light is beneficial to a person’s ability to stay focussed. In addition, the table lamp by Flos is equipped with a sensor on top of the lamp head, by means of which you may adjust the light temperature and choose between three dimming phases. Another advantage of the Edge-Lighting technology is the positioning of the LEDs: instead of placing the light emitting diodes directly underneath the lamp head, they are now hidden in the outside rim of the light opening. In this way, the zone light of the table lamp does not glare at all. Moreover, when it comes to energy-efficiency, the Kelvin Edge impresses with a luminous flux of 300 lumens while consuming only 8 watts.
