The Fontana Arte Equatore Terra LED breaks with conventions. When thinking of light fixtures, you usually expect a diffuser/reflector with a light source behind or below it. The Equatore Terra LED by Fontana Arte, on the other hand, offers a surprise: the floor lamp has a glass shade, but you won't find a light bulb. Instead, the light comes from two LED light discs located behind a horizontal metal strip. This is also where this floor lamp gets its name: Equatore, in English: equator.
While the lower disc shines downwards, the upper one shines against the glass diffuser, which distributes the light in the room. The Fontana Arte Equatore Terra LED, created by Gabriele and Oscar Buratti, performs two lighting tasks at once. On the one hand, the downward light makes it suitable as a reading lamp, for example next to an armchair in the living room. With its ambient light output, the Equatore Terra LED makes a contribution to general lighting. Its sophisticated design earned this floor lamp the Archiproducts Design Award.
