The Big Bang Sospensione from Foscarini is an outstanding pendant luminaire with an unconventional character. The lamp gets it special appeal from the apparent contradiction between the charismatically "chaotic" structure and the harmonious illumination it provides. The structure appears to be made of differently sized methacrylate panels that are randomly put together. However, the seemingly chaotic structure of the Foscarini Big Bang Sospensione is actually based on a calculated method. This means that the individual elements of this pendant light are deliberately placed according to systematic criteria to achieve diffuse and reflected illumination and an interplay of light and shadow. The attractive pendant light is a joint project by Enrico Franzolini and Vicente Garcia Jiménez from 2006.

Big Bang Sospensione – uniformly reflected light

The Foscarini Big Bang Sospensione has a unique, dynamic character. It is characterised by always new and charming lighting effect and details – depending on the perspective of the viewer. It then again becomes clear why the Foscarini Big Bang pendant lamp received its name: just like the matter in the standard Big Bang theory, the light seems to be escaping in all directions. The result is a uniformly reflected ambient lighting that seems to form a counterpart to the extravagant appearance.
