Foscarini Mite Terra LED – award-winning floor lamp by an Italian design company
At first, the
Foscarini Mite Terra LED attracts attention with its extraordinary shape. Looking like a slim champagne flute or a cigarette, the delicate diffuser stands
1.85m tall. Thanks to its form, the
Mite Terra LED by
Foscarini has a unique lighting effect: it emits a bright light towards the ceiling and thereby suffuses the room with indirect, soft light – at the same time this floor lamp becomes an attractive light object that dominates the room with its silhouette and materiality. It is not very surprising that the
designer Marc Sandler received the renowned
Compasso d'Oro-ADI award for this design of the
Foscarini Mite Terra LED from 2000.
The
Mite Terra LED was not only developed for a single lighting purpose; it is rather suitable for many different scopes of duties. For instance, this floor lamp serves as a modern uplighter that suffuses the
living room with a pleasantly soft light. At the same time, it is an appealing eye-catcher that always makes an impression. The
Foscarini Mite Terra LED also develops its full effect in the bedroom by providing for a pleasant basic lighting that is even more emphasised due to its shape.
Mite Terra LED – illuminated eye-catcher for the living room
The shape of this
floor lamp convinces with its modernity that is created due to a combination of its delicate appearance and functionality. This freedom of form is facilitated by a
composite material made of fibreglass that is reinforced with carbon fibres. The decision to only use highly modern materials for the manufacturing process of the
Mite Terra LED by Foscarini makes it a furnishing object with a unique flair and a particular lighting effect. Fibreglass filaments of the diffuser wound around themselves make the impression that there are many concentric circles winding upwards on the lampshade of the
Foscarini Mite Terra LED.
The
Foscarini Mite Terra LED is available in two different colours: yellow and black. In contrast to its predecessors that are operated using conventional illuminants the
Mite Terra LED is equipped with energy-efficient and powerful LED modules which achieve a luminous flux of
2,500 lumens – and they only require a power input of
32 watts for this purpose. This means that its luminous flux exceeds the one achieved by a conventional
150 W incandescent lamp. The colour rendering index of the LED lamp is Ra=90 and therefore promises a good reproduction of the colours.
