DesignThanks to its surface design that was inspired by Japanese rice paper, the Foscarini Rituals Soffitto is a real eye-catcher that suffuses the living room with pleasant, warm-white light. The shade of the Rituals Soffitto by Foscarini is manufactured in a complex process in the glass-blower manufactories on the island of Murano. Here, the organic surface of the ceiling light is created in a process consisting of different casting steps and acid baths – during this process, the glass body is covered with irregular grooves that are arranged in concentric circles. A special highlight of the Foscarini Rituals Soffitto design is that it seems to be floating on the ceiling. The ceiling light is only connected to its base at a narrow point and thus creates the impression of a freely floating paper lantern.
The Foscarini Rituals Soffitto was created by the renowned married designer couple Ludovica and Roberto Palomba. The two designers consider their pieces of the Rituals series as an expression of the connection between craftsmanship and technology based on the aesthetics of natural objects.
