An extremely simple design, the lampshade of the Ingo Maurer Willydilly consists of translucent paperboard. The shade of the Willydilly pendant light is affixed to the hanging power cable by a fluorescing clip. Depending on the position of this clip, the spiral form of the lampshade can be adjusted into a tight roll or a more fanned out shape. The lighting effect produced by the Ingo Maurer Willydilly also changes with the shape of the shade: when in a tight roll, the light is more subdued, while the light is brighter when the shade is more unfurled.

One of the benefits of the Ingo Maurer Willydilly is the versatility in the space. With a cable length of maximum 2 metres, the height can be adjusted via the baldachin.
