Design

The design of the Northern Birdy table lamp by Birger Dahl from 1952 is a modern classic of Scandinavian design. It is characterised by its almost cylindrical light head that is held in position by means of a two-part, filigree frame. This makes the Birdy table lamp look like a stylised birdy that takes a seat on the table. In 1952, it was given the somewhat cumbersome name s-30016; in 2013 it was then reissued by the Norwegian light manufacturer Northern under the name Birdy.

Birdy table lights: adjustable zone lighting

The Northern Birdy table lamp supplies bright zone lighting directly to where it is required. This is ensured by two delicate hinges on the connection joint between the hinged arms and the light head. Thanks to an E27 socket, this table lamp by Northern can be equipped with different lamps. Be it a classic halogen lamp for brilliant light with a familiarly warm-white light or an LED retrofit lamp that has a high luminous efficacy and only requires little energy for its operation.
