DesignWith his innovative and at the same time futuristic creations, the Danish designer Verner Panton has developed a very individual style, which is regarded as an exemplary embodiment of the 60s and 70s. The Verpan Fun 1TM table lamp, developed in 1964, is characterised by its extraordinary retro flair. The table lamp achieves this with its extravagant three-part shade made of a multitude of mother-of-pearl discs, which are joined together like a curtain by means of small metal rings. This structure is held in place by a stainless steel frame consisting of three ring segments grouped around a lamp in the centre. By the way, the mother-of-pearl discs of the Verpan table lamp are made of genuine sea shells. The Fun 1 TM lends its surroundings an extravagant atmosphere both as an object and as a luminaire.
